She's been out of the hospital for a few days. I wanted to wait for a bit to ensure she wasn't going to turn around and go right back in. :) She's been back at home and taking it easy. Less than 48 hours after being discharged from the hospital, Tom's mother is back in the hospital with the same symptoms. Last go-round, the GI doctor had found a few internal sites of bleeding between the stomach and small intestine and cauterized them. Her first night in the hospital was  bad - she slept poorly, and she was in a great deal of pain. On Saturday, they performed an upper GI scope, did a number of blood tests, and gave her four pints of blood. Tom's mother is in the hospital right now in Sioux Falls. She passed out at a wedding this afternoon, was treated at her local hospital, and transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital for additional testing. She's talked to all of her children on the phone, but this could be quite serious. The closest child lives 872 miles from her. (When she retired, ( Read more... )
